The creation of Kazoops!
“Kazoops! came about as a means of getting my kids songs out to the world.”
Before it all began, Scott started writing children’s songs that were a little more challenging for kids. Songs that took the listener on an adventure! – a bit more sophisticated than most of the children’s music out there.
the songwriting process.
Scott wrote 78 unique 2 minute songs. Each song is a story in itself and dictates the animation around it.
To keep each song unique, Scott explored many different styles and took inspiration from many different places – Including The Beatles, Future Islands, Kimya Dawson, Georgie Fame, Jemaine Clement & Bret Mckenzie, Sufjan Stevens, Jon Brion, Mark Ronson, The Polyphonic Spree, The Specials, Burt Bacharach and more.
The second part was the scoring of the action in acts 1 and 3. Every piece of scoring across the entire series is unique to each episode with a basic palette of sounds and instruments and take a recurring riff from the theme tune that crops up often in all sorts of different variations.
